ICARDS

ICARDs stands for an Adaptive International Curricula Accessible by Remote Distance Learning (ICARDs). The goal of the ICARDs initiative is to provide internal medicine residents and general practitioners in Haiti with appropriate cardiovascular education to improve patient care through access to virtual cardiology lectures hosted on a virtual platform. The ICARDs virtual curriculum was first launched at Hopital universitaire de Mirebalais (HUM) in April 2019. The impact of the virtual curriculum was formally evaluated and data analysis demonstrated positive trends in cardiovascular knowledge acquisition. After the first year, 100% of residents reported that the curriculum was good to excellent. The current curriculum consists of 32 virtual lectures, quizzes and homework assignments. On our virtual platform, we also provide supplemental reading materials, recorded lectures and panel discussions with lecturers and cardiovascular specialists.
